Did you know that one of the most common eye diseases in animals is cataracts? While cats and dogs are different species than us they can still develop similar eye diseases to humans. Cataracts, in both humans and animals, are the clouding of the lens in the eye. This happens with age and even trauma, causing cloudy or blurred vision. If left untreated can lead to permanent blindness and sometimes pain or inflammation. If you observe your furry friend having difficulty seeing or notice a blue/grey haze to the eyes see your primary veterinarian. Just like you, your pet should be monitored regularly as well!
