Can I take my prescription medication the day of surgery?

The anesthesiologist will call you the evening before the surgery he will instruct you on any medication he does not want you taking.

Can I eat the morning of surgery?

For cataract patients- The anesthesiologist will call you the evening before the surgery he will instruct you on if you can eat or drink anything after midnight the night before surgery.

For Yag Laser Capsulotomy patients- Yes you can eat the morning of the surgery.

Do patients use drops the morning of Cataract surgery?

No surgery drops, ONLY glaucoma drops as prescribed.

Do patients need a driver for a Yag Capsulotomy?

Dr. Hanuch - No they do not. (They should have someone on call in case they need a ride unexpectedly)

Dr. Park and Dr. Siebold – Yes, you will need a ride.

How much is my surgery going to cost?

Insurance plans are all different. You can call your insurance company and give them the procedure code for cataract surgery 66984/66982 or Yag laser surgery 66821. The procedure is done at the Westfall surgery center.

Do I have to give money to the Surgery Center?

If you owe money to the surgery center they will require you pay them that day.

How long do I need to wait between drops?

Separate drops five minutes apart, Three times a day.

Are there restrictions after Cataract surgery?

You will get post-op instructions at your follow up appointment the day after surgery that will explain any restrictions.

Are there restrictions after Yag Cap surgery?

No
