Visual stability after LASIK
Here at Cornerstone Eye Associates in Rochester we believe a well informed LASIK patient is a happy postoperative patient. Patients ask us lots of questions when they come to us for an evaluation to determine if LASIK at Cornerstone Eye Associates is right for them. Some of the more common ones we hear “Is LASIK permanent?” or “Will my vision change in 3to 5 years?” We are happy to answer that question with a no.
A current study done followed patients who had moderate or severe myopia for 7 years postoperatively. The doctors who performed the study concluded: LASIK surgery has predictable and stable results in refractive and visual outcomes in correcting moderate to high myopia in long-term followup. Refractive stability is maintained over 7 years, with no evidence of progressive late-onset complications.[J Refractive Surg. 2008;24:935-940]

I had wanted to get laser eye surgery for the past year but was always worried about the risks (you know the Kathy Griffin story) but I finally got it done and have to say I am very happy with the results. No more glasses/contacts for me and the recovery period was a hassle but definitely worth it!!!
